Before you visit
Your first visit
An eye visit typically includes history, vision checks, and examination of the front of the eye and related structures. Bring current glasses or contact-lens details, prior eye reports, and a list of eye drops or medicines. Dilating drops may be used — ask if you need to drive afterward.
Preparation
Avoid wearing contact lenses to the visit if you were asked to remove them beforehand. Bring sunglasses if dilation is likely. Do not stop prescribed eye drops unless your clinician instructed you to.
Duration & recovery
Outpatient eye reviews usually have no recovery time beyond temporary blur if dilating drops were used. If a procedure is planned, your ophthalmologist will explain expected timing, same-day discharge where appropriate, and written aftercare.
